Unlike my work email, I don't file away messages into folders on yahoo mail. which means that when i get back-dated spam, I have to scroll through pages and pages older messages to locate that deviant message. the unread spam usually pops up within the first 3-4 pages, but this week, for the life of me I couldn't find the spam message.

today i finally decided to track that sucker down. the Inbox (1) thing was really getting to me. i scrolled and scrolled and scrolled.... no unread message after 20 pages. nothing after 35 pages. my computer was giving me a headache. finally, 1,036 messages and 41 pages later, on the very.last.page, i saw the message. it was dated Jan 1, 1900. "Jeannie Taylor", I HATE YOU.

Angkor trip (Feb 2007)

Big move

my parents just moved this weekend... from their HUGE mansion in the
boonies to a townhouse half the size in the city.  the old house
was 1.5 hours from mine, the new house 15 minutes.  they had to
throw away half their stuff and leave my mom's mango tree and beloved
koi behind.

all this - to be closer to princess stella.  so yes, i am v
grateful... v lucky... v spoiled.  thanks mom and dad. 
you're the best.  i am looking forward to hopping a cab home for
some home-cooking and hanging out on an ad-hoc basis   yay.

we just finished watching house season one... want to buy season two,
but prices at HMV are prohibitively high.  is it worth
HK$450/US$60?

why is it that only 1-2 generations ago it was perfectly acceptable to have a kid in your early 20's, but when i heard that charlotte church is preggers at 21, i immediately thought "white trash"?

i mean, who am i to decide when it's "the right time" for someone to become a parent?

i
guess my impression of the "voice of an angel" had already been tainted
by accounts of her hard partying ways as a teenager... it felt wrong
that the pure and angelic voice on the record that so captured my
imagination belonged to a girl that passes out regularly from drinking, chain smokes and has a sewage for her mouth.

but seriously. as long as she is happy i suppose.  she did say she's "delighted" about her pregnancy on her website.

face in my shoe again and after i shooed him off, I spotted a pool of
drool on my shoe.  i have cat drool on my $400 shoe.

rescue mission

i've been miserable at work for various reasons that i'm not gonna get
into here, but today, out of the blue,  a senior colleague (my
unofficial mentor) sat me down and said "i hear you're unhappy. 
do you want to talk about it? " um.  yes.  you heard
right.  HELP!  ............anyhow we ended up discussing
options - real opportunities and actionable
items, not just ideas.  and here i am feeling trapped &
miserable for the
past few weeks and inundating p with my daily complaints (sorry love,
and thanks for being so supportive)!  as soon as i left my
colleague's office i broke into a huge smile.... i was in a fantastic
mood, immune to all insults for the rest of the day. 

thankyouthankyouthankyou. thank you for looking out for me and for caring enough to intervene.

i finally saw Casino Royale last night... it was much better than i expected. daniel craig's quite believable as a bond, no?

Not that i'm feeling nostalgic or anything, but for those of you who lived in HK in the late 80'/early 90's, i hope this video brings back some fond memories..

Offensive?

So should I feel offended if I get into a cab and the cabbie rolls down his window immediately?  I mean, granted sometimes I do deserve it (like the one time a bunch of us hopped into a cab straight after a hockey tournament and one of the girls pulled out her foul smelling shin-guards that have never been washed... ever.)  But if I'm feeling/looking/smelling rather normal and the cabbie still rolls down the window... what gives?

On the flip side what if you get into a cab and the cabbie has bad B.O. or hasn't washed his hair in a while?
